Shoplifters Will Cost YOU $98 Additional Dollars This Holiday Season

    DECEMBER 5, 2012- The holidays may be the most wonderful time of the year.

    But holiday grinches and shoplifters may be causing you to shell out even more cash than you even realize.

    Store officials across the board are beefing up security and say shoplifting drives up the cost of your purchases and you end up paying out of pocket anyways.

    According to the Center for Retail Research, U.S. retailers will lose $8.9 billion dollars over the holiday season.

    Big box stores as well as locally owned businesses are fighting back against shoplifters.

    Reports say revenue loss will cost about 98 additional dollars on each family's shopping tab.   

General shoplifting is said to take in around $3.8 billion dollars worth of goods.

    And these numbers are up 4% from last year.

    Officials tell us the professional shoplifters go for the bigger items like electronics.

    The amateurs will go for clothing and shoes.

    As for employees getting caught, they will cost big box stores expect to lose about $4.7 billion dollars.
