The Millcreek Township School Board accepts the resignation of Superintendent Michael Golde during a special meeting held tonight.
They say he is leaving for medical reasons.
We also heard more tonight about an audit that's been raising questions, and the McDowell project.
Golde remains on medical leave until his appointment ends, but he has served and provided his resignation.
It will be effective June 30, 2013 or on the date he receives his first payment through disability benefits.
Golde will have his health insurance through January 31, 2014.
He is currently using the sick days, personal days and vacation days he has accumulated.
Golde has also reached a severance agreement with the Millcreek School District.
At the meeting tonight, the school board approved the severance with board member Michael Kobylka as the only "no" vote.
When we asked about the audit that showed a transfer of 5 million dollars from a capital reserve fund to the operating fund, Assistant Superintendent Bill Hall said, "I would say the movement of funds was clearly a mistake, and it was done at the direction of our superintendent."
The transfer of funds was not authorized by the Board of School Directors. The transfer "was made to avoid a Tax Anticipation Note and the incurrence of additional interest expense by the school district." They approved the return of funds to the capital reserve fund so that it can be used for construction projects.
Also on the agenda was the McDowell construction.
Assistant Superintendent Bill Hall says there is no concrete deadline right now, and that the school board is trying to listen to the public.
He says they've got more work to do but everything is "still on the table".

Hmmmm, intriguing that he has a medical condition...could it be that guilt is driving up his blood pressure because he might get caught after doing something he wasn't supposed to do with Millcreek's monies??? Well, I guess we will just have to wait and see then...if there was some inappropriations, then they WILL find them, and if it was illegally done...someone WILL be going to jail for a very long time!! So, tell us again...WHY is he still getting paid???

The is exactly the kind of inept political and educational leadership we have come to expect here in trashcan Erie. This guy quits in the middle of important unfinished business and he will continue to be paid for months for doing nothing. Why don't our kids deserve better?
