Catholics all around the world marked their foreheads with the sign of the cross today.

Majority of them telling us Ash Wednesday is a day they will never miss.

Churches all over the city were celebrating the beginning of lent and marking the foreheads of Catholics with a cross. This is known as Ash Wednesday.

Bishop Lawrence Persico was at the Roman Catholic Chapel on Ash Wednesday, starting off the Lenten Season in fine fashion.

He held a prayer service before distributing the ashes. Afterwards, you were able to stay and pray or confess your sins.

Father Scott Maxwell at Saint Paul Lutheran Church wants his parishioners to look at this day as a fresh start, and a wake up call to remind yourself to do penance, confront your sins, and strengthen your relationship with god.

And for Angie Wisinski., Ash Wednesday means giving back to the Lord in thanks.

Comments

Are you aware that receiving ashes on the forehead on Ash Wednesday is not exclusively a Catholic practice? I am a Lutheran, but other Christians do this also.
