Gas Prices Impacting Local Business

Prices at the pump have been a hot topic lately.

They've been steady for the past week, but that doesn't help local businesses who have been greatly impacted by the rise.

We talked to Matt Barnes, owner of Barnes Limousines, he tells us if gas is at its low he can save up to $15,000 dollars a year, but recently that's not been the case.

Every week, Barnes says it's a huge pain to fill up his fleet of 8 limos...because it costs him close to $1,700 dollars.

Barnes is worried about the impact the high gas prices could have on his business.

He explains he's spending more and more money every week on the same thing, and when he's spending $1,700 a week on gas, it forces him to cut costs in other places.

The same goes for Tamara Sallot, owner of Yum Yum's Pizza...

Her pizzeria is fairly new to the area, and the prices at the pump have been a detriment to her business.

Right now they have two delivery cars that they have to fill up every two days...

Sallot drives one of the cars and she has to use her own money for gas.

Yum Yum's has started turning down smaller delivery orders...because they actually lose money driving to certain locations.

The problem also is, that when the price of gas DOES go down...the rest of everything that went up because of it, DOESN'T!! Companies are gouging people by downsizing, and charging more for their products!!
