Kathy Dahlkemper Not Running for Governor

February 25, 2013 - Former Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper is planning to run for Erie County Executive this year.

However, despite reports earlier today from Democratic party officials, she will not run for Governor.

In a statement received by JET 24/FOX 66 tonight, Dahlkemper said , "I would like to confirm and clarify my plans. I intend to run for Erie County Executive this year. I have spent recent months pursuing various options, including a run for PA Governor. I have decided that serving the people of northwest Pennsylvania as County Executive affords me the greatest opportunity to help advance the region I love so much.
I am currently traveling on an educational trip with my colleague from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, Rev. Charles Brock.
I will be making an official announcement the week of March 4th."

This statement comes after Bill Cole, Erie County Democratic party chairman, announced that he had learned that Dahlkemper was circulating nominating petitions for both County Executive and Governor.

The one term Congresswoman will face off with incumbent County Executive Barry Grossman in the spring primary.
