August 15, 2012--Sending a text message may be an instantaneous way to communicate, but the dangers when you're doing it behind the wheel are nothing to LOL about. And just as serious as the dangers are the consequences. Erie County District Attorney Jack Daneri says texting while driving is a primary offense and at the very least, you'll be fined $50. In some cases, cell phone records are obtained, but you're bargaining for more than just the fine. Erie Police Chief Steve Franklin says officers know what to look for: weaving, not stopping for red lights and stop signs. Franklin says the results of texting and driving can be just like drinking and driving.
