October 11, 2012-- Erie County says they are doing some smart financial work when it comes to funding upgrades at pleasant ridge manor.

The county is lending the nursing home $2.5 million from its unrestricted gaming funds to help the facility pay for sprinkler and water and sewer upgrades.

Erie county council acts as the board of trustees for pleasant ridge manor and the two facilities are consolidating into one west location.

Since the county would be ultimately responsible fiscally they are saving money on borrowing costs and interest.

Smith says the move will pay itself back once pleasant ridge's sale of 88 beds to Millcreek Manor is complete.
