Time Of The Year For Holiday Blues

By: David Belmondo
Updated: November 29, 2012
Tis the season to be jolly, but not for everyone.

For some, the holiday season often brings unwelcome guests named stress and depression. And it's no wonder. The holidays present a long list  of demands, like  parties, shopping, baking, cleaning and entertaining, to name just a few.

The holiday blues hit hard for Jacqueline Jordan. Her husband passed away a few months ago and her 25 year old daughter has been in prison for drugs and she now has custody of her grandson. She says at this time of year...her world is crumbling.

Here a few more tips to keep the holidays stress and blues free

Be realistic. The holidays don't have to be perfect or just like last year.
as families change and grow, traditions and rituals often change as well.

Set aside differences. try to accept family members and friends as they are even if they don't live up to all of your expectations.

Take a breather. Make some time for yourself. Spending 15 minutes alone without distractions may refresh you enough to do everything you need to do.

And watch the alcohol. Too much can lead to troubled times this holiday season.

Holidays are no different than any other time of the year, except...people think it's "Presents" have to be bought etc...when a hug or a phone call, or a visit would do SO much more for someone missing someone else!! It's not about buying, it's about, "Giving", and I do not mean money wise...You have no idea how much a small visit, phone call, letter, or hugs can do...and son't just wait until the Holidays to do it...Do it ALL of the time...Many of our loved ones cannot be with us anymore, but it doesn't mean that they are in our hearts and minds...they WILL be with us forever...And remember to "give" to other's if you are the one missing someone...Just because you miss them, doesn't mean YOU can't give to other's...It WILL make you're heart feel better!
