JANUARY 2, 2013-The slick city side streets have some motorists and residents questioning what's being done to correct the problem....

"It's nasty and it's a sheet of ice right now.... "

Fran Milkowski is describing the condition of Washington Place, the side street he has lived on for more than 20 years....

"Very frustrating because some neighbors get to see plows a  couple times a day and this neighborhood sees it once in a while...  Our tax money is just as green as everyone else's," says Milkowski.

Milkowski says he and his neighbors have experienced a fair share of spin outs and getting stuck along his street as well as many other city side streets.

"It's either not scraping hard enough or putting something down to break it up and it will be that way until get warm weather," says Milkowski.

City officials tell us they are working to the best of their ability and following standard procedure for snow removal...

"First of all see how heavy it is.  Go out salt and then we will check mains and then inner city by 4 p.m."

Bureau Chief of City Streets Pete Petrianni has worked with the city for 22 years...

He says crews have been working to clean up the snow impacted side streets, but the job becomes difficult when residents don't move their cars.

He urges everyone to remain patient...

"Parked cars on the street...  Illegally parked and it doesn't let us get through and 2 cars parked illegally could mess up the whole street," says Petrianni.

Petrianni says the side streets are always a priority as a large majority live on the side streets.

He recommends calling city services at 814-870-1340, if your street needs plowed.
