February 6, 2013 - Erie police are investigating an apparent burglary that turned into an assault.

They were called to 231 West 3rd Street just after 8:00pm on Wednesday night.

According to the officer in charge, several suspects entered through the back door of the apartment building and began kicking down locked doors to individual rooms.

That's when one of the house's occupants walked out of his room, interrupted the burglary in progress and was hit on the head with an unknown object.

He was taken to the hospital.

Erie police are continuing their investigation.

You need to realize that these are Gannon college students living close to campus. What other neighborhood should these kids live in? They need to be able to walk to classes, library, etc. Maybe it should it be better patroled with the amount of money these kids are spending to attend Gannon each year

Marauding gangs looting and pillaging. Yeah, that's family friendly Erie in 2013 for you. But seriously, this isn't really a high class neighborhood, so what exactly were they looking for?
