Arrests Made in Murder That Occurred in 1997

Ashtabula County Sheriff's Detectives, The United States Marshal's Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force with assistance of the Ashtabula City Police Department executed six (6) arrest warrants relating to the Murder of Ronald "Maceo" Hull that occurred on February 9, 1997.

On February 9, 1997 Ronald "Maceo" Hull was found deceased from apparent gunshot wounds in the area of 1017 W. 38th St. by Ashtabula City Police. The motive for the murder is suspected to be over illegal narcotics transactions and money.

 

Aggravated Murder, Kidnapping, and Felonious Assault warrants have been issued for the following individuals allegedly involved in the murder of Ronald "Maceo" Hull:

 

1.     John E. Drummond Jr. currently serving a prison sentence in Chillicothe, Ohio

2.     George L. Church      (arrested)

3.     Jawann M. Evans (still at large)

4.     Troy Jones    (arrested)

5.     Eric Weaver   (arrested)

6.     Stephen Boles   (arrested)

 

The Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department along with the Ohio Attorney General's Office has been in collaboration with this case for the past several months. This investigation has been ongoing over the past several years and has not been forgotten by authorities and was made part of the Ohio Attorney General's Office Cold Case Initiative.

 

 

Det. Taylor Cleveland and Det. Sean Ward of the Sheriff's Department (former Ashtabula City Police Officers) have worked diligently on this case over the years, and deserve special recognition for their efforts in the resolution of this crime.

 

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jawaan Evans is asked to contact the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department at 440-576-0055, or the United States Marshal's Service Tip Line at 866-4 Wanted. A cash reward is available leading to the arrest of Jawaan Evans.

 

Presently, George L Church, Troy Jones, Eric Weaver, and Stephen Boles are incarcerated at the Ashtabula County Jail pending their arraignments in Common Pleas Court.

 

All four individuals arrested today where found in different locations in Ashtabula County, Pennsylvania and Youngstown, Ohio area.
