A verdict has been reached in the Lake Erie Community Park trial.

The battle between a group of summer residents at the Lake Erie Community Park and Girard Township has come to an end.
The jury decided that Girard Township will be operating the park by a vote of ten to two.

The park was deeded to the township in 1941 to be used for recreational use.
The township now wants to develop the park and has asked some park tenants to move off the land.

Supervisors had testified that Girard Township wants to use one section of the park for trailers and keep the rest open to the public.

Plans to add hiking trails and pavilions are in the works for the township.
