Hot off the heels of the Academy Awards, local theater directors want to express how vital the arts are not only to Erie but to the nation.

Erie Playhouse directors tell us there are so many options for people who want to share their love of arts, whether it's a production at the playhouse or visiting the art museum.

Currently, they're working on Jane Austin's "Sense and Sensibility" that will be opening March 8th.

West Lake Middle School is also working on their musical for this year. Choral director Andrew Gross says there are many studies that have found how learning is increased by students who study music.

West Lake Middle School is working on their production of "The Little Mermaid."
Opening night is Friday March 8th at 7pm, Saturday March 9th at 7pm and a Sunday matinee at 3pm.
