Erie Community Auditions for Chance to Sing National Anthem

The Erie Seawolves, the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, hosted an audition at the Erie Playhouse from 10am-1pm Saturday for the next singer of the National Anthem for opening day.

JET 24/FOX 66 reporter Chelsea Pompeani was a local celebrity judge.

Those auditioning were given up to 90 seconds to sing the anthem, and had to perform it a capella. Those auditioning were given the option of performing solo, or as part of an ensemble.

People who tried out ranged in age.

Representatives from the Erie Seawolves will make the final decision over the course of the next few weeks.

Opening day is Thursday, April 4. The Seawolves will take on the Altoona Curve.
