Erie's biodiesel plant is being recognized for its excellence in export.

This morning, Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper presented officials from HERO BX with the U.S. Department of Commerce's Export Achievement Certificate.

The award was given to the company for its growing sales in foreign markets.

Business opportunities with buyers in Canada have resulted in more than a million dollars in sales to the Canadian market for HERO BX.

"Really done a phenomenal job of creating jobs in this region and creating export opportunities and we'd love to see other businesses create these export opportunities with jobs that stay here," says Dahlkemper.

Lyn Doverspike of US Commercial Service says, "They’re a very young company and they've been able to master exporting almost out of the gate."

HERO BX opened in 2008 and was Pennsylvania’s first large-scale biodiesel production facility.
